We're very fortunate to have had the BNZ Closed For Good crew from the BNZ at McKenzie Centre on August 23rd. They were marvellous at giving the Centre a spring clean for us. What a fantastic job, and visible improvement, they made. We all really appreciate this Great community initative from the BNZ.
A big thanks to this fabulous BNZ Closed for Good Project - Working Bee crew. They worked tirelessly to spruce up the Centre. It looks great and really inviting for all our children and their families.
We are very grateful that we were chosen, again, to be a recipent of this fantastic community iniative. Everyone's enthusiastic, hard work is truely appreciated and will make the Centre Sparkling clean again. On Wednesday August 3rd 2016, Jason Bourne thrilled family and friends. We gathered for ice creams, pop corn or a drink and some fabulous raffle prizes. Filling two cinemas, 169 people had a great night. Once again many thanks to our fabulous sponsors and supporters.

Thanks so much to The Girl on a Swing for generously donating scrumptious cupcakes to McKenzie Centre for an entire week in June 2015, in recognition of the work we do in the community. We couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw the mouth-watering and delectable array of cupcakes and cakes when we collected them. It certainly took the chill out of the very frosty mornings to be able to enjoy these delicious treats - the children, families and staff were in sugar heaven every morning. We are delighted and very grateful to The Girl on a Swing for its generosity and support – what wonderful community spirit they have.
Our Trisha Benge has won a very prestigious Rotary award, the 2015 Rotary Paul Harris Fellow award, for meritorious service to the community. Congratulations Trisha!!!!!
An enormous thank you to the extremely talented cast and crew of MusicMakers latest production, Bugsy Malone, which is showing at Riverlea Theatre until 30th May. McKenzie Centre was very fortunate to be chosen as the charity to benefit from a pre-opening fundraiser showing of this high-energy show, featuring an outstanding and gifted young cast.
Bugsy Malone is set during the 1920s prohibition era and in Fat Sam’s legendary Speakeasy. Featuring gangster characters the likes of Bugsy, Fat Sam, Blousey, Tallulah and Dandy Dan, this musical is full of fun, singing, dancing, rival gangs and Splatter guns. This is show is guaranteed to entertain the whole family, and we highly recommend that you book tickets now. A slick, stylish and professional production, Bugsy Malone will amaze you with the depth of singing talent on offer, as well as make you laugh and gasp as the action unfolds on stage.

On June 6th, 2013 over 240 people attended a fabulous night of drinks, nibbles and raffles before watching The Great Gatsby. Another successful fundraiser for McKenzie Centre. Thanks to all our wonderful sponsors and supporters.
McKenzie Centre’s 30th Anniversary Gala Dinner, Entertainment Showcase and Charity Auction took place on Saturday 1st November, and what a special occasion it was. Over 230 people attended the event, including past and present families, staff, trustees, community representatives, local businesses and friends of McKenzie Centre. It was a truly memorable night which acknowledged the special place McKenzie Centre holds in many people’s hearts, as well as a celebration of how the Centre has grown and developed to meet the needs of children and their families over the past 3 decades.
We would like to thank everyone who attended the event, donated items for the auction, or sent their best wishes to us on our 30th Birthday. We are very grateful for the support we receive from our wonderful community, and look forward to the next 30 years of service to children with special needs and their families.
On Thursday, 4th September 2014, bnz volunteers from The Base, Chartwell and Corporate branches gave McKenzie Centre a great spruce up as part of their Closed For Good initiative.
On Tuesday October 29th our long planned for and much anticipated building renovations began.
On April 26th 2013 we were thrilled to have some AON New Zealand staff come and help with our autumn clean up. This was a huge help to the Centre.
On 21 November 2012 James Bond in Skyfall entertained family and friends of McKenzie Centre at a film preview fundraiser. The evening included nibbles, wine, juice and raffles. The movie was extremely popular and two cinemas were filled.
Hamilton’s McKenzie Centre has benefited for the second time in 2012 from the generosity of Waikato Diocesan School students.
In May, Dio’s Young Enterprise Group Stripes and Stars Apparel handed over two Apple iPads to the McKenzie Centre from their Company’s profit. in October, the Dio Events Team handed over a $2000 donation to the Centre from money raised through sausage sizzles at events and donations made at the school’s May Ball.
McKenzie Centre is thrilled to have been chosen as the recipient charity of the inaugural Les Mills Charity BOOTCAMP, here in Hamilton. Here are the dedicated participants slogging it out at 6am on a freezing morning at Claudelands Park.

On August 17th 2011 the Friends Of McKenzie Centre held a movie night to raise funds for the building extension fund.
On March 9th 2011 a team from bnz Closed for Good came to McKenzie Centre and completed many tasks for us. They even gave some of the parents a very welcome break for a short time. Here are some of the tasks they were busy with.
Madison and Paula wrote a wonderful application that won us $2000 and all these lovely Handy Manny toys which are being enjoyed by the staff and children.
Crombie Lockwood Staff came to McKenzie Centre on 20 April and 7 October 2010 to volunteer for the afternoon. Many jobs were completed which was a big help to the Centre.
On November 28th 2009 McKenzie Centre celebrated its 25th anniversary with a Family Open Day
