Paul Harris Fellow Award for Trisha Benge - Lillian Martin

Our Trisha Benge has won a very prestigious Rotary award, the 2015 Rotary Paul Harris Fellow award, for meritorious service to the community. Congratulations Trisha!!!!! Her nomination was suggested by Ken Williamson, and several current and former families wrote testimonials in support. These awards are usually only presented to Rotarians, but they make exceptions for special people whom they believe have made an outstanding contribution to the community, and who exemplify the principles of Rotary which are based on service, high ethical standards and fostering goodwill and understanding in their daily life.

We managed to keep Trisha’s nomination a secret from her, and the first she knew about it was when she turned up at the Awards dinner at the Novotel last Friday night, thinking she was going to a Builder’s awards evening with her partner, Richie! When I think of the look on her face when we sprung the surprise on her, the phrase “stunned mullet” comes to mind, but luckily, a very beautiful one, since she was dressed to the nines!! She was presented with a beautiful medal and pin in front of a large crowd of Hamilton glitterati (and her family, some Trust and staff reps) and she did us all proud.

Congratulations Trisha; you are a very deserving winner of this important award, and we are all extremely proud of you.
